New Mexico’s oldest ski area offers dramatic views, with a vertical drop of 1,700 feet as well as six lifts and 30 beginner and intermediate trails for alpine skiers and snowboarders. You can drive to the ski area, or take the Sandia Peak Aerial Tramway on a 2.7 mile trip up to the observation deck, which sits at 10,378 feet, offering panoramic views of the Rio Grande Valley that stretch for 11,000 square miles.

The ski area has a certified snow sports school, rental shop, cafe, and the Sandia Peak Sports Shop. During summer weekends, the ski area offers scenic chairlift rides and lift-accessed mountain biking
