This non-profit was incorporated in 1973 to protect Galisteo, a village with a diverse Hispanic-Anglo-Indian population of less than 300 residents, comprised of of local craftsmen, artists, and professionals. The group works to ensure community and individual rights; maintain and preserve the historic nature of the Village of Galisteo; protect and improve the quality of the environment; maintain, protect, and improve community properties and facilities, and enhance the quality of life in and around the Village of Galisteo.

The Galisteo Community Association promotes and supports community activities such as the annual Chile & Margarita contest and Galisteo Studio Tour. The association also represents Galisteo at COUNTY and STATE levels and has initiated legal efforts to protect the village from inappropriate development, water use and more.
