SAN MARCOS CAFE AND FEED STORE

Image

This landmark restaurant, once a feed store, was opened in 1984 by Susan and Tom Macdonell, and the menu of huevos rancheros, breakfast crepes, giant cinnamon rolls and more drew locals and out-of-towners alike. Diners enjoyed the hearty food as much as the meandering menagerie of peacocks, turkeys, chickens and other fowls that greeted them outside. New owners Cindy and Mark Holloway recently took over, but the food remains pretty much the same—delicious, hearty and satisfying. The restaurant is open from 8:30 am to 6 pm weekdays, 8:30 am to 5 pm on Saturdays and 8:30 am to 2 pm on Sundays but breakfast is served anytime.
